Product Assurance
Our promise that parts arrive as described, how to make a claim, the remedies available, and the limits of manufacturer and product-specific warranties.
Sofitrek's product assurance is built around a straightforward commitment: an accepted order should contain the product, quantity, condition, and product-specific attributes that Sofitrek agreed to provide in writing.
This page does not create a universal laboratory-testing program or a blanket long-term warranty. It explains the baseline assurance that applies unless a product page, quotation, order confirmation, or separate written warranty provides different or additional terms.
What is covered
Subject to the Returns and RMA Policy, Refund Policy, and applicable law, Sofitrek will review a timely claim that an item:
- is not the manufacturer part number ordered;
- is short in quantity;
- materially differs from the stated condition;
- materially differs from a packaging, date-code, lot-code, test, traceability, accessory, or documentation requirement expressly included in the order;
- arrived with transit damage reported under the Shipping Policy;
- was represented as functional but is dead on arrival or has a covered defect within the applicable claim period.
A detail shown in the catalog that was not confirmed as a requirement of your order may not support a claim when the item otherwise matches the accepted order. Buyers should identify critical requirements before purchase.
What is not automatically covered
Unless Sofitrek expressly agreed otherwise in writing, the assurance does not promise:
- a recent or specific date code;
- a single lot;
- factory-sealed or original packaging;
- full manufacturer traceability;
- manufacturer authorization, support, or warranty;
- electrical performance against every datasheet limit;
- suitability for the buyer's design or application;
- access to firmware, software, licenses, passwords, or updates;
- cosmetic uniformity that does not materially conflict with the condition description;
- regulatory, export, customs, or environmental status beyond the written information supplied.
Claim period
A claim should be opened promptly and no later than 30 calendar days after delivery unless a product-specific written warranty or mandatory law provides a longer period.
Transit damage, wrong-item, and short-quantity issues should be reported as soon as discovered so packaging, carrier, and inventory evidence can be preserved.
Available remedies
After reviewing the order, returned item when required, and relevant evidence, Sofitrek may provide one or more of the following remedies:
- replacement with the same agreed product;
- replacement with a buyer-approved alternative;
- repair when specifically practical and agreed;
- full refund for the affected item or quantity;
- partial refund accepted by the buyer for a documented variance;
- another written resolution agreed by the parties.
When replacement or repair is not reasonably available, the normal remedy is a refund of the amount paid for the affected item or quantity. Shipping, tax, discount, and other allocations are handled under the Refund Policy.
Manufacturer warranties
Sofitrek is an independent distributor. A manufacturer's warranty, service program, software entitlement, or authorized-channel support may not apply or transfer. Sofitrek will not represent that a manufacturer warranty applies unless that coverage is expressly confirmed for the transaction.
Any Sofitrek warranty longer than the standard claim period must be stated in the product page, quotation, order confirmation, or separate written warranty. The writing should identify the covered product, duration, covered defect, exclusions, and remedy.
Handling and installation responsibilities
Electronic components can be damaged by electrostatic discharge, moisture exposure, excessive heat, incorrect polarity, improper soldering, unsuitable cleaning, overvoltage, overcurrent, mechanical stress, contamination, poor storage, or installation outside manufacturer limits.
The buyer is responsible for appropriate storage, ESD controls, moisture handling, installation, qualification, and operation. A product may be ineligible for a defect remedy when evidence shows that the problem was caused after delivery by misuse, mishandling, modification, improper installation, unsuitable environment, accident, normal wear, or operation outside applicable limits.
These exclusions do not defeat a valid claim that the wrong item was supplied, the item was materially misdescribed, or a non-waivable right applies.
How to open a claim
- Start a return or support request through the Contact and Help Center within the applicable period.
- Provide the order number, part number, affected quantity, and a clear description of the issue.
- Preserve the product, labels, packaging, carrier materials, and related items until instructions are provided.
- Provide focused photographs, measurements, or test information reasonably related to the claim when requested. Do not send unrelated confidential or export-controlled information.
- Obtain an RMA before returning anything. Returns sent without authorization may be delayed or refused.
- Package the same items supplied by Sofitrek using appropriate ESD, moisture, and physical protection.
Sofitrek may compare markings, quantities, serial or lot information, photographs, electrical results, and order records as appropriate. Testing performed during a claim is for claim evaluation and is not a new certification of the product.
Technical evidence and claim evaluation
Evidence for a defect or non-functioning claim is evaluated for technical relevance, not merely for the tester's brand, price, or country of manufacture. The method must be capable of testing the property claimed to be defective, the equipment and settings must be suitable for the expected range and conditions, and the setup and result must be documented well enough for a reasonable review or reproduction.
For an electrical claim, provide the reasonably available information relevant to the reported failure. This may include the circuit or fixture, supply voltage, polarity, current limit, load, operating conditions, instrument make and model, mode and range, connection points, readings, expected result, affected and tested quantities, comparison results, and photographs or video. Sofitrek will not require unrelated proprietary design information merely to create a barrier to a claim.
A measurement that does not test the claimed property is not, by itself, proof of a defect. For example, a simple resistance reading across a capacitor may be relevant to a claimed hard short, but by itself it does not establish capacitance, equivalent series resistance (ESR, internal AC resistance), leakage at the specified voltage (unwanted current), dissipation factor (energy loss), dielectric strength (voltage withstand), or conformance with a datasheet.
A low-cost or general-purpose tester can provide useful evidence when its supported measurement, range, accuracy, fixture, frequency, voltage, and method fit the claim. It is not conclusive when those conditions are unsuitable or undocumented. Sofitrek may request focused follow-up information, a repeat using an appropriate method, return of the affected items under an RMA, or independent review when reasonably necessary.
A claim may remain unverified or be denied with an explanation when the buyer does not provide reasonably available material information, refuses a reasonably necessary return or evaluation step, submits evidence unrelated to the claimed failure, or the review does not establish a covered condition. A difficult-to-reproduce or intermittent issue is not rejected solely because it is difficult to reproduce. The absence of a premium or laboratory instrument does not automatically defeat a claim, and these procedures do not limit a non-waivable right.
Suspected counterfeit or substituted return items
A buyer must not return items purchased elsewhere in place of products supplied by Sofitrek. When a return appears mixed, altered, remarked, substituted, or otherwise raises a material authenticity concern, Sofitrek may pause the refund, preserve the items, request information, obtain independent review, and take any action permitted or required by law.
High-reliability and safety-critical applications
The buyer must independently determine suitability and complete any qualification required for a high-reliability or safety-critical application. A standard catalog sale does not include aerospace, defense, medical, automotive, nuclear, life-safety, or similar qualification unless the transaction expressly includes it.
Limits and mandatory rights
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sofitrek's obligation for a covered product claim is limited to the remedies described above and the amount paid for the affected product. Nothing on this page excludes rights or liabilities that cannot lawfully be excluded, including applicable consumer rights and liability for fraud, willful misconduct, or personal injury where the law prohibits limitation.
Questions about a required assurance, test, or warranty should be resolved in writing before ordering through the Contact and Help Center.
